Stop 3: Bradner, Ohio

Bradner, Ohio knows how to protect Ohio's values.

When Ohio was threatened by the evil ideas of "historian" Harold Rugg in 1940, the patriots in Bradner took action.

Perhaps we can pay tribute to those events with a book burning of our own. Becky, do you have any extra copies this seditious screed?

The bar crawl faces a choice in Bradner. Our final destination will be an old favorite, Snuffy's Reloaded - the very same bar where a young Ohioan named Martin Luther King learned the principles of nonviolent resistance. However, before heading off to Snuffy's, we could stop at Bradner's newest place, Mad Dawg's Bar and Grill. The bar has such a loyal following that when it closed early on July 4, Lori Miller Johnston wrote: "This totally bites."

Rapper/NASCAR Driver, EminEd Slim Mathers, describes Snuffy's as not only the "Best bar in the world!!!! Awesome!!!!" but also the "Best place in the world!!!! So awesome and sexy!!!!!"

Stop 2: Bloomdale, Ohio

You may need some oxygen at the second stop on our journey. Bloomdale, Ohio is one of the highest villages in Wood County at an astounding 748 feet above sea level. The village is also renowned for its excellent water which comes from wells in the actual ground! The water contains naturally-occurring minerals, like magnesium!

Of course, everyone knows Bloomdale for the famous Bloomdale Group of public intellectuals who reshaped American thought in the 1960s and 1970s. Ohioans all, this group included Alan Greenspan

Betty Friedan

Sly Stone

and "Don't call me Whitey" Ford

Whitey says "Pass me that joint, cats! Ya dig?"

Our Bloomdale bar will be the sparkling new Hydrant Tavern on Main Street

Ohio Heroes
Stop 1: North Baltimore

This year we will be honoring Ohio's heroes. The tour will begin in the thriving metropolis of North Baltimore, Ohio

where we will honor Ohio's own Francis Scott Key (or FSK, as he was known on the street).

In addition to having a great head of hair, FSK wrote the lyrics to the The Star Spangled Banner during an all-weekend bender in North Baltimore during the War of 1812.

We will honor FSK at Harry's Bar and Grill on historic Main Street - an establishment that noted reviewer Mike Clark awarded a grade of "D" - presumably for "delicious."

North Baltimore was also the site of the Great Pallet Fire of 2014. Was it an accident, or was it arson? Perhaps the regulars at Harry's will shed some light on this event.

Bookmark this blog. Stop 2 will  be announced soon.
